Training Opportunities

The Legs, Regs and Budget Pre-Conference is designed to present a thorough introduction to the responsibilities and authority new TRiO professionals need to know in order to properly manage a TRiO grant, especially for those TRiO staff with less than two years experience. 

The day is developed to give a complete review of TRiO legislation, regulations and budgetary guidelines.  The training is based on Before, During and After the first year of a new grant. Topics include the following:

Before
	Legislation and regulations
	Implementing the grant proposal
	Federal assurances
	Program and TRiO advocacy
During
	Inheriting or building a new program
	Ties between budget and program operations
	Building institutional relations
	Formative evaluation
	Public relations
After
	Annual Performance Reporting
	Closing a grant year budget
	Summative evaluation and program assessment

Ample time for Q & A during and after the presentations is provided so that participants can clarify their understanding on how to effectively manage a TRiO Program.

BONUS: A valuable CD of program resources will be provided to each trainee. This tool will put the regulations, templates, forms, directories—to name a few—right at your finger tips.

The training facilitators are Matt Benney and Dave Ferguson. Combined both trainers have more than 50 years TRiO experience, have served as WESTOP presidents, have served on COE board of directors, and are experienced program directors and presenters.
