Arizona Chapter

Chapter Minutes--April 7, 2006
Embry Riddle Aeronautical University
Prescott, AZ

In attendance: Wendy Adams, Mary Brown, Lonnie Densberger, Randy Dermer Helen Dou, Michelle Figueroa, Gene Fougner, Evelyn Giunta, Dora Griffin, Linda Hooper-Bonham, Silvester Mata, Robert McCune, Christopher Mims, Joseph Munoz, Lydia Perez, Amalia Prado, Mary Tiradani

  1. Called to order by Michelle Figueroa at 10:10am.
  2. Welcome and Introduction of all professionals in attendance.
  3. Approval of the minutes- Dora moves to approve, Chris seconds.  Motion passes unanimously.
  4. President’s Report
    1. Policy seminar was attended by Rob, Michelle, Lydia, Mr. Coin, Anita, and six students.  They weren’t able to meet with congressmen, but met with aids.  The novice bill will not be voted on.  It was withdrawn.  At the wrap up meeting it was mentioned that several congressmen want to increase funding to TRiO.  Arizona is not looking as good as other states.  Both senators are not in favor. They were invited to events, etc.  Meet with the congressmen as citizens. 
    2. Board of directors meeting is in May in San Francisco, CA.
  5. Treasurer’s Report
    1. Profit Lost Statement is passed out.  Balance is $21,365.33. 
    2. The official transfer from Kevin to Mary will be next week.  
    3. The Chapter will be using CVent for payment of future events.
  6. Old Business
    1. TRiO Achievers Lunch is Saturday April 22.  Olga will ask the President or Dean of Embry Riddle to be the keynote speaker.  Each program can bring three students and two staff.  The cost is $10-$13 a person and is paid by the Chapter.  Each program is responsible for their own certificates.  It will start at 11:30am and go to 2:30pm.
  7. New Business
    1. A list of committees is given.  People break up into respective committees to review budget. 
      1. Communications Committee- will contact at least one person from each program that is not participating.
      2. Research Committee- Will start to compile date and numbers for State of Arizona.  During policy we will have official numbers.
      3. Fund Development- Fund 100 students with scholarships.
      4. Membership- Create CD for new members and put information on website.

If chairs have any changes to the budget, email Michelle by Monday, April 10 at 12:00pm.

  1. Announcements
    1. A list of 2006-07 Chapter meetings and events was passed out.
    2. Chairs from last year should send all information to Michelle to create binders.
  2. Meeting Adjourned- Dora motioned to adjourn, Helen seconded the motion.

Budget Approval via Email from April 11, 2006 to April 18, 2006
Budget was emailed by Michelle on April 11, 2006.  Anita motioned to approve, seconded by Hector.  Budget passed via email vote.
