Board of Directors Report

Bylaws Committee

January Board Meeting

Committee Function:  This committee shall be responsible for reviewing the bylaws periodically to correct errors and eliminate inconsistencies, requesting recommendations for amendments from the Board and the Membership, and overseeing the amendment process.

Committee Members: WESTOP Board of Directors and Service Council, D. Matthew Benney, Jose Martinez-Saldana, Brian Aguilar

Committee Update:

  • No recommendations have been brought forward for formal review.
  • New strategic planning initiatives may present bylaws amendments.
  • Stand still with WESTOP mission statement, vision statement and strategic plan affect implementation of amendment process.
  • 2007-2008 WESTOP Calendar does not appear to make accommodations for any amendments to go to vote to the membership.

Recommendations:

  • Recommend that no amendments go to vote this year.  Focus remainder of year to completing mission/vision statement and the strategic plan.
  • Amendment process can begin in 2008-2009 board year after much thought and consideration have been given to potential amendments.

Respectfully Submitted,

Lydia Perez
