Chapter Description:
Provide leadership that will facilitate a communication network within Nevada by holding chapter meetings, providing activities that will advance educational equity and act upon issues and concerns of our membership. Prepare and submit the annual budget and chapter reports at WESTOP board meetings as well as serve on WESTOP Board committees.

Chapter Updates:

1. A chapter meeting was held on February 18, 2007 at the WESTOP Conference in Burlingame, CA whereby the 2007-08 officers were confirmed and final plans for the TRIO Day Celebration were discussed.
2. Our last chapter meeting was held on March 27, 2007 at the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The main purpose of this meeting was to receive feedback about the TRIO Day Celebration and to discuss the NV Chapter plans for 2007-08.
3. The Nevada student selected to receive the Peggy J. Whitehead Scholarship was Jose Calderon of Spanish Springs High School. The announcement was made at our TRIO Day Celebration on February 24.
4. The following chapter goals for 07-08 are:
• Work collaboratively with the Northern Cal Chapter to provide membership with a PDS in 2007.
•  Hold a TRIO Day Celebration in northern Nevada in February 2008 that has a community service focus.
• Establish a fundraising committee that will look at other ways to increase funds in our account. Temple Sander and Deirdre Hill were willing to investigate options, but no one has volunteered to chair this committee.

     4. The 3rd Annual TRIO Graduates Celebration in northern Nevada was held on
         Wednesday, May 9, 2007 on the University of Nevada, Reno campus. There were
         several attendees from the local school district and the university community. A
         representative from Governor Gibbons’ office and Senator Harry Reid’s office were
         present.

*NV Chapter is currently working with Northern Cal on a PDS. We have no idea regarding an estimated
income from the event that we may receive based on the number of persons we can encourage to attend.
We are still in the planning stage of trying to work together.
