Pursuant with WESTOP Bylaws Article VIII, § 8.11 (a) (4), “This committee will be responsible for all aspects of public relations regarding the WESTOP Association.”

  7. Developed internal Press Release on the WESTOP Budget to the Membership (April ’07)
  8. Connected with Oscar Cobian of USC TRiO programs in order to assist with “Original TRiO Programs” project (April ’07)

  10. Updating Master List of WESTOP TRiO Programs & TRiO Fact Book with new Upward Bound Funding Slate (May ’07)

Connected with U.S. Department of Education, Undersecretary Sara Martinez-Tucker and her San Francisco Office staff at invite-only regional summit on Higher Education in Tempe, AZ.  U.S. Department of Ed staff is amiable to connecting with WESTOP staff, students, and families in the Northern California area as well as our WESTOP conference in Hawaii.  In addition, successfully nominated an Arizona State University Upward Bound alumna to speak for 2 hours with the Undersecretary. (June ’07)
  13. Assisted WESTOP Membership & Elections Chair with design, editing, and  completion of WESTOP Membership handbook  (June ’07)
  14. Upon request by WESTOP Resource Development Chair, designed and printed WESTOP business cards  (July ’07)
  15. Designed a full-page advertisement of WESTOP Conference for the conference book of the Council for Opportunity in Education, but one was already submitted  (July ’07)
  16. Researched and obtained resources for PR (Textbook on PR for Nonprofits, General Guide Book on PR, & Data Analysis software to help analyze demographic data and measure future PR “Return on Investment”, Webinar software that can help increase communication, & PR sample on PR as Advocacy/Lobbying)  (July ’07)
  17. Invited by the Council for Opportunity in Education (COE) to serve as co-presenter at Pre-Conference on Facebook & MySpace but had to decline  (July ’07)
  18. Attended training and conference in Chicago on “Strategic Integrated Marketing” (July ’07)
