Chapter Description:
Provide leadership that will facilitate a communication network within Nevada by holding chapter meetings, providing activities that will advance educational equity and act upon issues and concerns of our membership. Prepare and submit the annual budget and chapter reports at WESTOP board meetings as well as serve on WESTOP Board committees.

Chapter Updates:

  1. A chapter meeting was held on October 12, 2006 at the University of Nevada, Reno campus. The chapter approved adding the treasurer duties to the chapter secretary position for this 2006-07 year. Deirdre Hill is working with the members to coordinate the Trio Day for the northern Nevada area for February 2007. It’s been over 10 years since the chapter had one. A survey was sent in September to Trio program staff in Nevada to ask for feedback regarding workshop topics and their willingness to be involved on committees or as presenters. The chapter president reported that she applied for the COE State Initiative Grant to assist with the costs of planning the Trio Day.
  2. COE awarded the Nevada Chapter a $725 State Initiative Grant.
  3. Next chapter meeting will be held in early January 2007.
