Chapter Description: The purpose of the Chapters is to bring together WESTOP Members on a geographical basis to articulate and act upon issues and concerns of their Membership within the purpose, objectives, and functions of WESTOP as expressed in Article II, Sections 2.1 and 2.2 (Article III, Section 3.2).
Chapter Updates:
- Our last Chapter meeting was held on September 29, 2006 Cal State Fullerton
- A revised organizational chart, new officer job descriptions, and a roster of all officers was provided
- UC Riverside expressed an interest in hosting our 2007 Student Leadership Conference
- The new Treasurer, Marvin Da Costa was introduced
- An update was provided about the status of disbursements for the 2006 student scholarships
- At the end of the meeting, a roundtable discussion was held about the Upward Bound Grant Competition. Members discussed how they planned to organize their applications due to the 50 page limit and what percentages they were going to use in their objectives. An extensive discussion also took place about which state standardized test should be used to answer the testing objective
- The Professional Development Seminar will be held before our Board Meeting in Palm Springs from November 15-17, 2006. We expect approximately 80 participants to be in attendance.
- Our next Chapter meeting will be November 17, 2006 in Palm Springs.
