Brief Committee: The responsibilities of the Technology shall include, but not be limited to, the promotion of technological issues and advancements as it benefits WESTOP’s purpose and those of programs represented by our membership.
Committee Assignments
- Form a committee with regional representation, including the WESTOP website administrator
- Prepare a budget
- Create for board approval policies/procedures conducting business via email or WWW
- Review on-line association membership directory for consistency with assistance from CFO
- Evaluate and Make recommendations to the Board regarding the WESTOP website, online membership, directory, listerv, online advertisement, and other technological advances
- Assist Professional Development committee with planning and implementation of a second regional conference/training.
Committee /Chapter Updates:
- The committee has continued the Tuesday Technology Tips – Steve Calhoun is currently doing it for Nov. Nancy Hasenpflug (Dec) Russell Lobban (Jan & Feb)
- The committee has finalized the email procedures and was approved by the BOD – It now has to go through the membership and added through the by-laws procedure.
- The committee has worked with the website administrator regarding the upkeep of the technology tips and other pages.
- The committee has created an online technology survey. This survey went out on Nov. 8. 2006.
- The committee has spoke with various people regarding presenting at the Tech Seminar
Action Items:
- Technology Seminar has changed from Dec to Jan. Spoke with Karen (UW) regarding using their facilities. We will be able to offer workshops in the evening only because of UW grant regulations. We do not have to pay for rooms for the workshops. Though we do have to post this as an UW training that WESTOP will be offering workshops.
- Would like to use budget for myself as well as other technology committee who are doing presentations, and other appropriate people needed.
- Technology survey is out, please encourage membership to fill-out the survey.
- Working on the website map waiting for Dave to get back on vacation to load it.
- Need to find regional representation from Pacific Island chapter (done), but need to find representation from SoCal.
- Listserv Issues: The listserv is currently hosted through Hawaii’s server. WESTOP bought a server, which is housed at CSU, Chico – UB’s office. Caren had a meeting with Dave and Cesar regarding the transferring of listserv. Recommendations are as followed:
Chico listserv has been beta tested by Dave and Cesar
- Who should do the validations of email? Need to be done ASAP
- Deadline for the list – Jan 22, 2007
- New listserv start date – Feb. 1, 2007
- Will promote at annual conference
- Would like to have a station at the conference
- Would like the board to have a recognized listserv administrator
- Bylaws would be responsible.
